Each vessel in this sanitary series for a pharmaceutical manufacturer involved multiple processes to meet the hygienic requirements, ASME Code and CRN registration. The video showcases a behind-the-scenes look at the different stages of manufacturing this vessel series, from parts fabrication through final testing and documentation.

METAL FINISHING
Parts are fabricated from ASME-approved stainless material for pressure vessel construction. In this high-purity vessel line example, metal finishing technicians execute the surface requirements of 25 RA internal and 35 RA external. RA (Roughness Average) indicates the smoothness of the material as required by regulatory code.

WELDING
ASME standards define the welds’ quality, type, and finishing. The structural integrity of the pressure vessels is maintained using ASME code welding procedures and certified ASME welders at Apache Stainless.

COMPONENTS & ASSEMBLY
Properly selecting components and design are essential to the safety and performance of the vessel. Components and features on the sanitary vessel series project include:
• Sanitary Pressure Manways
• Custom Nozzle Configurations
• Multiple Site Glasses
• Custom Mapped Spray Ball
• Sanitary Vessel Ball Valves
• Zero-Dead-Leg Connections

PASSIVATION
The line of vessels in the 24 vessel series was passivated per ASTM A967, removing all free iron and embedded contaminants.

COMPLIANCE TESTS & DOCUMENTATION
Every vessel was tested and inspected to include ASME calculations and data report, Passivation and Surface Finish Certificates, Quality Control checklists and certificates, Elastomer Certificates, and CRN documentation.

Pharmaceutical and sanitary vessels are regulated to extreme standards. Apache Stainless offers customers in these industries precise control over multiple processes and highly engineered vessel customization and compliance performance.
